Connecting Our Community

Welcome to the Eastway Gardens community website. Aside from being a residential neighbourhood, Eastway Gardens is a key integrated transit hub, boasting two LRT stations and the city's Via Rail main terminal. The area may also be the future site of the Alto high-speed train station.

Residents of the leafy neighbourhood of Eastway Gardens are within walking distance of two O-Train stations and the city's Via Rail main terminal.

Nestled in a corner of Alta Vista Ward 18, Eastway Gardens is a small, unique neighbourhood only a short commute to downtown Ottawa. It’s bordered by the Rideau River to the west, St. Laurent Blvd. to the east, Coventry Rd. to the north, and Belfast Rd. to the south. A collection of dead-end streets branch off Tremblay Road between Riverside Dr. and St. Laurent Blvd. Since most streets are alphabetically named, some residents affectionately call it “Alphabetville.”

Eastway Gardens is zoned as a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) area because there are two O-Train transit-way stations, bus routes, and the Via Rail main terminal within walking distance. This is rare for inner-city transit, as few neighbourhoods anywhere boast two LRT stations. Moreover, there aren’t many residential areas in Ontario closer to a mainline train station for intercity travel.

Newred copy Volunteer needed to maintain skating rink at Cecil Morrison Park

Eastway Gardens needs a new volunteer to coordinate maintaining the park skating rink this winter. The role involves coordinating with the city, preparing the rink surface and leading the regular upkeep of the rink. You'll have help from many neighbours, but we need a lead to take this on.
